Father Joe’s Six Golden Seeds® is a unifying story and songbook inspired by Father Joe Carroll’s example of goodness. Father Joe (1941–2021) helped countless unhoused neighbors access meals, housing, education, job training, medical care, and more.
Author and songwriter Kathryn “the Grape” Cloward created the Six Golden Seeds concept from the life lessons she learned during more than 150 hours of recorded conversations with Father Joe while writing his memoir, Father Joe: Life Stories of a Hustler Priest. Father Joe personally asked Kathryn to write his memoir, and she fulfilled that request in service to him, publishing the book on his 80th birthday, just a few months before his passing.
Through Father Joe’s Six Golden Seeds®, readers learn the true story of how Kathryn the Grape’s signature purple outfit came from the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in downtown San Diego, California, where Kathryn’s mom worked alongside Father Joe during the early years of his service to unhoused neighbors in need.
100% of all proceeds support children and families in need.
